Fynbos Finery started from a love of fashion and a childhood spent learning the art of sewing with my grandmother on our family farm. 

From a young age I was fascinated by clothes and the creativity and skill that went into making them. Growing up on a farm meant that we made just about everything ourselves. I began crafting clothes for myself, but it wasn’t until university that things truly changed for me.

I made my first linen dress during a university holiday, and I instantly fell in love with the fabric. My gran and I spent hours perfecting the pattern, and when I wore the dress back at university, friends and people I studied with began asking me to make similar ones for them. This is when Fynbos Finery was born. 

I started sewing between lectures and running a small operation from my university room. My first "big" fabric order led to a few new styles and dresses and my very first professional photoshoot. 

As demand increased, I found myself struggling to keep up with balancing life and this new venture I had embarked on. Thank goodness for Clem coming on board and bringing his business skills. From there, our journey has been one of growth and transformation. What began with just one seamstress has expanded into a talented team sewing all our garments which has enabled Fynbos Finery to reach international markets. 

Fynbos Finery is so much more than just another clothing brand—it’s the culmination of creativity, passion, and the lessons I learned as a young girl in my gran’s sewing room. It is the story of a little girls dreams and aspirations.
